POSITION SUMMARY The Executive Director (ED) is the visionary and operational leader responsible for driving the organization's mission and ensuring the Strategic Plan is successfully executed. This individual is accountable for team oversight, overall organizational performance, and maintaining the financial viability required for network growth. The ED is expected to lead from a deep love of Jesus, His Church and the Greater Charlotte region. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Visionary Leadership • Serving as the lead Visionary and "movement maker," responsible for setting the pace and culture for the organization and its networks. • Championing and clearly articulating the mission, vision, and values to the community, and ensuring all organizational messaging aligns with that identity. Strategic Execution • Driving the implementation of the Strategic Plan toward defined 3-year goals and the 10-year aim. • Overseeing the process for achieving measurable outcomes aligned with citywide transformation goals. • Providing direct supervision of all staff and the management of daily operations. • Managing the strategic partnership and collaboration with the Board of Directors on all organizational matters. Network & Coalition Health & Growth • Overseeing the development and scaling of networks, ensuring their health and impact in the city. • Ensuring network leaders are connected and equipped to lead their network well. • Working with the Founder and key stakeholders to develop deep coalition partnerships, fostering expansion and alignment across the coalition. Financial Health & Resource Development • Overseeing all primary fundraising efforts and fiscal operations to ensure the organization operates reliably within Board-approved budget parameters. • Developing a diverse and sustainable funding model that supports long-term growth. • Working with the Founder on major funding partnerships. • Ensuring the highest level of legal, financial, and regulatory compliance, including timely filings and governance best practices. Measurement & Impact • Overseeing key organizational measurements and managing research efforts related to network health and city-level, missional data (State of Our City Platform). • Utilizing data to inform strategic decision-making and continuous organizational refinement. • Ensuring accountability by communicating results, successes, and impact for both internal learning and external organizational storytelling. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: Professional Experience & Leadership • Education: An undergraduate degree is required • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership or ministry experience. • Fundraising History: A proven track record in organizational growth and fundraising. • Church Context: Prior experience working in or with local churches is essential. • Scope of Leadership: Proven experience leading complex initiatives and successfully mobilizing leaders. • Strategic Acumen: Must be a highly strategic thinker with strong theological grounding. • Communication: Proven excellence in written and verbal communication essential for effectively conveying vision, inspiring, and motivating others. • Collaboration: Demonstrates strong collaboration skills and a history of achieving results through partnership and coalition-building. Relational & Cultural Capacity • Relational: Possesses high relational capacity and self-awareness, capable of building trust-based relationships with senior leaders and partners. • Culture: Must be a culture shaper and peacemaker, skilled in navigating diverse sectors and successfully building cross-cultural and multiethnic relationships. • Personal Disposition: Personal style is outward-focused and energetic, exhibiting humility, magnetic chemistry with the team, and a passion for developing other leaders. Core Convictions • Theological Alignment: Demonstrates a strong commitment to Christ and a passion for seeking the unity of the City Church. Must embrace the Nicene Creed and Lausanne Covenant. • FORCLT DNA Alignment: Must be able to embrace and champion FORCLT’s core DNA statements, as stated on the SP1 (purpose, mission, values, etc.). • Missional Passion: Possesses a strong biblical foundation and a passion for city transformation through the proclamation and demonstration of the gospel. Physical & Cognitive Demands • Communication Demands: The essential functions of this role require the consistent ability to use vision, hearing, and speech to convey the purpose and vision of the ministry. • Cognitive Demands: Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for performing tasks, meeting deadlines, and reacting to changing situations. • Mobility & Compliance: Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds. CANDIDATE PREFERENCES: • Education: Seminary and/or graduate education is preferred. Educational background in pastoral ministry, missional ministry, urban ministry, justice and compassion ministry, evangelism, or similar fields is desired. • Strategic Experience: Previous experience achieving measurable impact/flourishing through network development and coalition-building across diverse Christian organizations is strongly preferred. • Contextual Experience: Previous experience with a city movement, network development, missional ministry through a local church or para-church ministry is strongly preferred.
